Definities
Het werkgebied van €COnovatie© omvat veel aan elkaar gerelateerde, maar door elkaar gebruikte begrippen. Hieronder is een aantal gangbare definities weergegeven:
- Sustainable innovation... ...is a process where sustainability considerations (environmental, social, financial) are integrated into company systems from idea generation through to research and development (R&D) and commercialisation. This applies to products, services and technologies as well as new business and organisation models (Charter 2007)
- Eco-innovation... ... any form of innovation intended to achieve the objective of sustainable environmentally-friendly development by reducing the impact on the environment or by using natural resources, especially energy, in a more efficient and responsible manner (Competitiveness and Innovation Framework, an EU Program 2007-2013)
- Sustainable development... ... is development that meets the needs of the present world without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland, 1987)
- Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Ondernemen... ...betekent dat u naast het streven naar winst (profit) ook rekening houdt met het effect van uw activiteiten op het milieu (planet) en dat u oog heeft voor menselijke aspecten binnen en buiten het bedrijf (people). Het gaat er om een balans te vinden tussen people, planet en profit (MVO Nederland, 2009)
- Corporate Social Responsibility... ...is the framework of the voluntary policies and actions that address social and environmental causes beyond compliance, mandatory obligations, law and regulations
- Duurzaamheid..... gaat over de schaarste van de hulpbronnen waarmee welvaart wordt voortgebracht, zowel nu als in de toekomst. De oppervlakte van de aarde is eindig; grondstoffen kunnen opraken; en de opnamecapaciteit van de atmosfeer en onze natuurlijke omgeving kent haar grenzen (Wikipedia).
